The 95% Assignment

Around 2:01 AM EST, I received an e-mail from one of my instructors. It simply stated that the grades for the first assignment were posted and that my personal evaluation was attached.

I was nervous to open it. Literally sweating. Maybe it’s just because I was holding Dalton and trying to feed him and read at the same time, haha.

Anyway. I open up the attached document and what do I see? One point was taken off because I didn’t format my paper to Verdana, 9 point.

Are you serious? A 95% because of one silly mistake? I e-mailed him back. He was probably wondering why I was up so late or maybe wondering why I was questioning my 95% paper.

E-mail to Instructor:

Hi

You’re really going to take away one point because I forgot to format it to Verdana 9 point? :-/

I don’t want to sound like some crazy student obsessed with her grades, but I don’t let little things like this quit bothering me and then I get stressed out about it and do worse on future assignments. Basically, I’m a perfectionist. I thought we got extra points for turning it in early? Or is that just the Web Tech Program Orientation?

Is there any way I can get that point back so my grade won’t be a 95%?
:(

Sincerely,
Kerri deMendonca

Hell yeah I was going to try and get that point back! Like the e-mail says, I’m a perfectionist. I mean, to the point where I don’t trust anyone to do things correctly at home. I have to do it myself.

So he e-mailed me back telling me that there are bonus points on future assignments and tons of ways I can make over 100% in the class overall.

That’s nice. That’s wonderful, actually. But he’s not a perfectionist.

In a perfectionist’s eyeballs, no matter if we made 110% in the class overall, that 95% is still there and that is indeed not perfect.

Call me crazy. I don’t care. I just want 100% on that paper.

Stupid, Verdana! I knew you were trouble since the day I met you 10-years ago!

Here are some images that I’ve “liked” on websites like Pintrest and We Love Indie that just remind me how geeky I am! :p

My favorite one!

Shopping Withdrawals

Lately I have been going through withdrawals… from shopping!

I do love to save money, so I only shop if I know it won’t break the bank. Most of the time I can convince myself why I don’t need whatever I’m wanting to buy. But today, that didn’t quite work. Here’s what I purchased and the discounts I used! :)

American Eagle Outfitters

The AE Uniform Shirt was a piece that I wanted for a while. I stuck it out until it went on sale from $34.50 to $19.95 and quickly added it to my bag. It’s a staple in my eyes. It will be good for interviews or work or anything!

Now that was the only item I wanted, but I found out that if you add a bra, you automatically get free shipping! Plus, all of the bras are 30% off! These great discounts are valid until Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 at 11:59 PM PDT and they do not require any special promotion code to get the discount. Sweet!

So I ended up adding the Hannah Cotton Bra, which is $24.50 originally and $17.15 with the discount. Since you don’t need to enter any kind of promotion code at checkout, if you DO have a promotion code, you can add it and get an additional percentage or dollar value off your order! :-o My total ended up at $40.08 for both pieces of clothing.

Forever 21

Okay, so this one I kind of went crazy with accessories, but all of them at Forever 21 are really cheap!

So Forever 21 has a free shipping deal if you spend at least $40! This ends on Sunday, September 12th, 2010 and you must enter the promotion code SHIPFREE at checkout to get the free shipping!

The items I purchased was, again, another staple: a plain white cotton t-shirt for $8.80. Normally I would just hit up Walmart and buy a package of five for the same price, but they don’t seem to fit me like I want them to.

Next, I have a Ruched Trim Knit Top which looks like a top for work or just to dress up. Well, that’s “dressing up” for me anyway. lol That top was only $9.44! Then we have the accessories, buddy!

The Double Banded Headband cost just $1.50 and I’ve been looking for one EVERYWHERE. The sunglasses were $5.80 and I basically added them to reach my $40 and because Bryce Avary has a pair and he’s my absolute favorite.

The Butterfly Ring was $4.80, Well-Endowed Ring was $5.80, and the Faceted Bead Necklace was $4.80! Tell me a place where you can get accessories cheaper and I will quit getting mine at Forever 21. Even Walmart’s accessories were more than this!

My total ended up at $44.22 which means the grand total for my little shopping spree is $84.30!

Someone should really stop me from shopping. Or give me some sort of medication for my shopping withdrawals. Seriously.

This week’s quote is by River Phoenix because today would have been his 40th birthday if he was still alive. And because he’s my favorite actor ever. Ever.

“Everything is ironic to me. There are moments I find hysterical, but I’m probably the only one who would find that, except for a few people.”

- River Phoenix

Funny, I’m the exact same way. :)

I thought that I would start a little thing about Lyra’s favorite music. She’s at the age where she is learning music from the radio and preferring it over those kid songs. Each edition will contain her five most favorite songs!

Each song is linked to the appropriate page on Amazon.com. Enjoy! :)

Tracks

  1. “Rain Is A Good Thing” by Luke Bryan
  2. “Lover, Lover” by Jerrod Niemann
  3. “Little White Church” by Little Big Town
  4. “Undo It” by Carrie Underwood
  5. “American Honey” by Lady Antebellum

Bonus Track!

  1. “She Won’t Be Lonely Long” by Clay Walker
