“Harmony” by Susie Suh
Recently my mother had to put our dog, Harmony, to sleep. She was going blind, she had diabetes and hip dysplasia. She was just so pitiful walking into things all the time. She was just very, very sick.
This song reminds me of her, not just because of the name, but the rhythm of the song. It kind of sounds sad. I cry every time I hear it, and I’m going to share the song with all of you.
Rest in Peace, Harmony. We love and miss you a lot.

Psychics: To Believe or Not To Believe
I used to be a strong believer in psychics. I loved the whole idea of being able to read a person’s mind or to see the future. I mean, everybody has a little extra special powers (ESP), some more than others.
For instance, my mom told me that the more you believe in your powers, the better your powers become. So I believed and I believed hard. I started having dreams that actually happened or there would be signs that something was going to happen.
One dream, I saw two people from high school that I hadn’t seen in probably 5-years and had no contact with. They were driving on a beat up, light blue car. The very next day, I was driving to Walmart and there’s that beat up, light blue car with both of them in it driving on the same street as in my dream.
No, I’m not making this up.
Anyway. Last year, I called a psychic. The automated message reminded me that it was solely entertainment.
But I wanted to know who I was meant to be with, why my cat died (y’all, I loved my cat like a monkey loves bananas!), and if I was ever going to have more children.
I don’t remember everything she said, but I do remember that she told me I would have more kids; definitely one more, maybe two. She said my second one would be a boy and if the third one happened, it would also be a boy. But the second one was supposed to be 4-years from when I talked to her.
She was half right. I did have a baby boy, just not 4-years later.
This topic just came to mind because of an ad on Twitter for psychics. And because I’m bored. So what do you think?!
Do you believe in psychics? Have you ever called one, even just for fun?

And the Beat Goes On
I’ve been so busy with my classwork that I haven’t had quite much time to do anything else. Literally! A basket of laundry sat in my room for 3-days! I was able to wash and dry them because I have a fancy machine that does all the work.
Here is a short list of what’s coming to The Queen Mom:
- Microsites for Lyra and Dalton.
- The remodeling of Lyra’s bedroom.
- Designssss!
- River Phoenix, Ryan Gosling, Mark Wahlberg, Jake Gyllenhaal, and more!
- More eco-friendly ideas.
- A million new tutorials!
- A few giveaways!
I will be working little bits at a time when I can to entertain you all!
Just hang tight and there will be more coming!

Shopping Withdrawals
Lately I have been going through withdrawals… from shopping!
I do love to save money, so I only shop if I know it won’t break the bank. Most of the time I can convince myself why I don’t need whatever I’m wanting to buy. But today, that didn’t quite work. Here’s what I purchased and the discounts I used!

American Eagle Outfitters
The AE Uniform Shirt was a piece that I wanted for a while. I stuck it out until it went on sale from $34.50 to $19.95 and quickly added it to my bag. It’s a staple in my eyes. It will be good for interviews or work or anything!
Now that was the only item I wanted, but I found out that if you add a bra, you automatically get free shipping! Plus, all of the bras are 30% off! These great discounts are valid until Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 at 11:59 PM PDT and they do not require any special promotion code to get the discount. Sweet!
So I ended up adding the Hannah Cotton Bra, which is $24.50 originally and $17.15 with the discount. Since you don’t need to enter any kind of promotion code at checkout, if you DO have a promotion code, you can add it and get an additional percentage or dollar value off your order!
My total ended up at $40.08 for both pieces of clothing.

Forever 21
Okay, so this one I kind of went crazy with accessories, but all of them at Forever 21 are really cheap!
So Forever 21 has a free shipping deal if you spend at least $40! This ends on Sunday, September 12th, 2010 and you must enter the promotion code SHIPFREE at checkout to get the free shipping!
The items I purchased was, again, another staple: a plain white cotton t-shirt for $8.80. Normally I would just hit up Walmart and buy a package of five for the same price, but they don’t seem to fit me like I want them to.
Next, I have a Ruched Trim Knit Top which looks like a top for work or just to dress up. Well, that’s “dressing up” for me anyway.
That top was only $9.44! Then we have the accessories, buddy!
The Double Banded Headband cost just $1.50 and I’ve been looking for one EVERYWHERE. The sunglasses were $5.80 and I basically added them to reach my $40 and because Bryce Avary has a pair and he’s my absolute favorite.
The Butterfly Ring was $4.80, Well-Endowed Ring was $5.80, and the Faceted Bead Necklace was $4.80! Tell me a place where you can get accessories cheaper and I will quit getting mine at Forever 21. Even Walmart’s accessories were more than this!
My total ended up at $44.22 which means the grand total for my little shopping spree is $84.30!
Someone should really stop me from shopping. Or give me some sort of medication for my shopping withdrawals. Seriously.

The Day Before Another Big Change
I am experiencing a whirlwind of emotions right now.
Tomorrow my son will be born. We are going into labor and delivery at 12:00pm to register and prepare for the c-section. My doctor says he will be born around 2:30pm-3:00pm, but that’s if there are not any emergency c-sections popping up in the meantime.
I feel happy to finally have my baby in my arms and to not be pregnant anymore. I’m also nervous to meet him. I’m dreading the crying in the middle of the night. I don’t know what it’s going to be like to have two children.
What if I’m not going to be good enough?
I’m a worry-wart. I always have been and I always will be. I want to be the perfect mom, even though there is no such thing.

Hey, I'm Kerri and I am the webmistress of this blog! I am a young mother of two children and one on the way! I'm working towards becoming a wedding and event planner in the near future, but I also build a lot of websites for no reason and I like to drink coffee. :)
